ISMETT-UPMC: First Heart Transplant from a Donor after Cardiac Death in Sicily

For the first time in Sicily, a successful heart transplant from a donor after cardiac death has been performed. Known as a DCD controlled transplant (Donation after Circulatory Death), this is a highly complex procedure that was made possible through the collaboration between ARNAS Civico Hospital and the IRCCS ISMETT-UPMC.
